Baby on the way!

Well, it’s been quite a while since I’ve done a maternity shoot…almost 2 years, to be exact, when I did Lacey’s shoot in October of 2008.  I was really excited when my friends Danielle and Jesse let me use them as guinea pigs back in July.  I had to wait until now to blog about it because they weren’t telling anyone the name of the baby!  Little Vera Jade was born earlier this week, thus freeing me up to post this blog!  And yes, you’ll probably be seeing a new blog post soon with pics of the new baby…

Wait, I’m a JOGGER???

So, over the years, due to pregnancies, children, marriage and..well…laziness, I have managed to gain a few extra pounds of, um, fluff.  I’m not exactly obese or grossly overweight, but I’m definitely not the hottie with the six pack that I was in high school.  Sam and I made a decision a few months ago to shed some of the extra “love” and start exercising. Sam loves jogging (weirdo), so he started the Couch To 5K program. I figured I’d start swimming or something easy and, well, FUN, until my cousin Anita convinced me to start the Couch To 5K program with her.  So for the last 3 months, I have been…*gag*…JOGGING.  Yes, I am now a jogger.  Do I love jogging?  NO WAY!  It’s practically torture.  Do I love the way I feel after I jog?  Heck yes! My stamina and endurance has increased immensely, I feel energized, and I’m starting to shed a few of those pounds.

The best part about jogging?  Hanging with my girlfriends!  What started out with my cousin and I has now morphed into a bunch of my girls, our kids, strollers and wagons all out there on the trail (taking up the whole trail, mind you). We usually have a group of 4-5 girls, at least one stroller, and 6-7 kids on bikes and scooters at any given time.  You should see the looks on the faces of some of the pro joggers or bikers that pass us by.  It’s pretty funny to see them weave their way past our group…

Our little jogging group has decided to RUN a 5K race.  Yes, we will be finishing our training in about 2 weeks, and on August 29 we will be jogging in the Alki Beach 5K Walk and Run benefiting Breast Cancer Research through the Northwest Hope and Healing Organization.  I never thought I would be able to say the words “Oh yeah, I’ve TOTALLY run in a 5K race.  No biggie!”  What a surreal feeling!!! Plus, to be able to raise money for Breast Cancer is a pretty good reason to run if any!

Our team name was created by one of our team members, Sarah.  Check out our logo:

Bumbling boobees

Cute, huh?

So here’s the lowdown: If you’d like to join our team, we will have two teams: a walking team, and a running team. Feel free to join either one by going to our PAGE and clicking “Register for this event” at the top.

If you can’t run or walk with us, we would LOVE any donation you can give.  Our team is trying to raise $1,000 dollars, and we need your help!  You can go to our PAGE and donate there.

You can also check out our Facebook Page.

Want some incentive to donate?  How about this:

THE HIGHEST DONOR WILL RECIEVE A FREE ONE HOUR PHOTOSHOOT WITH ME!!!!

Yup! A free shoot, AND your money will go toward a fantastic cause.  How rad is that? You will be able to use your photoshoot for any type of shoot that you want- Family, Boudoir, Newborn, Senior or Head Shots…it’s your choice!

If you can’t join our team OR donate, then you can at least come cheer us on at the race…it should be fun!

Hope to see you guys there!!!

Nick and Noah, Double the cuteness!

I was soooo excited when Jackie contacted me about photographing her beautiful 3 year old twin boys.  With their blue eyes and curly hair, my heart melted the first time I saw them.  These two boys are full of energy…we spent most of the photoshoot running and running and running, but MAN are they fun!  We met up at Fort Steilacoom Park, and lemme tell you, the photographic possibilities are ENDLESS!  If you are a photographer, you have to take your clients here.  It’s SO COOL!

Anyway, on to the cutie boys…
