In case you haven’t noticed, I LOVE LOVE babies. I love their little feet, their tiny fingers, and their soft skin. I also love the process of birth. It is so empowering to know what a woman’s body is capable of doing. I had both my children with a midwife, and that’s what really started me off on my love of birth. A while ago, I began taking steps to become a Doula, which literally means “women’s helper.” In fact, I had completed my doula course and had gone to my first birth, and when I came home, my husband surprised me with my very first DLSR camera, which of course, was the beginning of my photography career. After that, even though photography was my number one passion, I never forgot my love of birth. I have managed to combine birth with photography, and have photographed a few births. It’s so awesome being able to combine two things that I LOVE!
My friends Jeff and Anna asked me a while ago to photograph the birth of their new baby boy, Andrew. Of course I said yes!
On Labor Day (hahah…get it? Labor Day????) Jeff called me and told me they were headed to the hospital. At 6:21 pm on September 7, 2009, after a mere 4 hours of labor, Andrew Soule was born. Weighing in at 8 lb, and 9.5 oz, he is absolutely beautiful! Anna was wonderful, and Jeff was sweet and attentive.
Here are the shots I got from the day:

Anna had just started munching on a popsicle when they told her that she was ready to start pushing….Jeff had no problem finishing off the popsicle for her…
At exactly 5:55, she started to push….

…and at 6:21, he was born!!!!
Beautiful Mamma!!!!
Happy Family!!!!

Mom was a little tired…

Jeff and Anna: thank you for letting me be a part of this special moment. You guys are awesome!
And give little Andrew a kiss for me!
