All around the world, women are being treated as though they are just a thing, an object. As if they have no rights, no feelings, as if they are not a person. Some of the abuse is incredible- genital mutilation/cutting, sex trafficking, rape and the denial of personal rights are just a few examples. Young girls are forced to marry instead of finishing their education. Hindu widows are forced to shave their heads and live on the streets. Rape is an every day occurrence…and what’s worse, is that it goes unpunished.
Why? Because it’s tradition.
